Alex Butler draws on decades of experience in digital to give a no nonsense take on digital transformation.  She starts from the viewpoint that technology is an incredible enabler, but that it is a focus on simplicity and a genuine partnership in the design of new services with the people that use them that creates 'transformation'.  Alex has been at the heart of some major digital transformation projects in the public and private sectors and offers her top 10 tips to make sure you're getting the best value for your digital chance programme.

Alex's Bio

Alex Butler has an unusual blend of skills and experience across corporate and start up organisations. She is CEO of KindredHQ.com, a community of freelancers and independents who work for themselves.  She is also a consultant specialising in digital capability and transformation, working across a number of industries with a strong pedigree in the public sector. She currently leads a £3m digital transformation programme with Chelmsford City Council.

She led the transformation of the UK Government's approach to and use of digital technologies establishing a programme of activity to improve the UK government's online services. Responsible for the original service proposition for Directgov, the UK Government's citizen website, she also established and ran a new digital delivery division, the forerunner of the UK's Government Digital Service.

Alex put in place a programme linking established digital and technology entrepreneurs with the UK's Civil Service, with outstanding results. She championed the strategic use of technology by government, helping the UK government to collaborate with industry and entrepreneurs.

Alex has a marketing background, from Saatchi and Saatchi and Interbrand, to large-scale product marketing and brand programmes in large multinational technology organisations, such as BT, General Motors and Cable & Wireless, and start up organisations developing new brand identities and launch programmes.
